The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported Sunday that Artificial Intelligence (AI) has played a pivotal role in rescuing many of the 636 children from exploitation since 2022.
PNP Chief General Rommel Francisco Marbil underscored the transformative impact of AI in combating child exploitation, particularly crimes facilitated through the dark web.
“AI-powered tools are transforming the way we solve crimes and rescue victims, especially in cases involving the dark web. These technologies enable us to analyze vast amounts of data, identify suspects with greater precision, and swiftly respond to emerging threats,” Marbil said.
The advanced technologies, he noted, have accelerated the identification of perpetrators, ensuring timely rescues and successful prosecutions.
Among the 636 rescued children were 375 girls and 121 boys, all under 17. The PNP has conducted 307 operations targeting crimes related to the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children law since 2022, with 145 operations this year alone.
