The Cavite Tol Patriots will be focused on getting as many wins as possible when the Women’s Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (WMPBL) unwraps in January.
Head coach Mandell Martires said they want to build up in the elimination round as they try to make an impact in the first professional women’s basketball league.
The WMPBL will have 14 teams in the inaugural season.
“We are not thinking about the playoffs just yet. We just want to execute our system,” Martires said.
“So far, the coaches and the management are enjoying training. Everybody is excited.”
The Tol Patriots will be bannered by Bernice Paraiso of De La Salle University, Erika May Jimenez of University of the Philippines, and Jaina del Prado of Far Eastern University.
Team manager Micko Tolentino said they will try to bring the action around Cavite for the fans to enjoy.
“We’re coordinating with the president of WMPBL. The games will be held every Saturday and Sunday,” said Micko, who is also the son of team owner and Senator Francis Tolentino.
“The games will not just be in Dasmariñas but also go around Cavite.”
