Choco Mucho snaps two-game slide

Choco Mucho snapped a two-game slide at the expense of Farm Fresh with a marathon, 25-20, 25-21, 21-25, 25-27, 15-12, victory in the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference Thursday night at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.  

Sisi Rondina exploded with a triple-double of 26 points including 25 kills, 13 excellent receptions and 13 digs as the Flying Titans improved to an even 3-3 win-loss record to end the year.

Choco Mucho shattered a 7-7 fifth set deadlock with a 6-1 run to erect a 13-8 advantage following a Rondina kill.

Cherry Nunag pushed the Flying Titans at match point before the Foxies saved three match points to close in 14-12 after Maicah Larroza nailed an ace.

Choco Mucho claimed victory and snapped Farm Fresh’ two-game win streak after the Foxies committed a net violation – the club’s last of 36 errors.   

“We’re happy with the win although we had a lot of lapses at least we’re able to get the victory. Of course, we also expected Farm Fresh to give us a tough time. It’s a complete team effort from the players to the coaches,” Flying Titans head coach Dante Alinsunurin said.

Kat Tolentino added 18 points while Nunag and Isa Molde chipped in 10 markers for Choco Mucho, who missed its chance of finishing off the Foxies in the fourth set with a late meltdown.

The Flying Titans went up 23-20 in the fourth frame and reached match point, 24-22, only for Nunag to commit back-to-back attack errors forcing a deuce.

Rondina gave Choco Mucho another matchpoint advantage before Trisha Tubu knotted the set at 25. Rondina sent her spike out in the next play before Tubu sealed the set win to force a fifth frame.

Tubu finished with 31 points coming from 28 spikes and two kill blocks while Caitlyn Viray and Alyssa Bertolano added 15 and 10 markers, respectively, for Farm Fresh.
