Rain or Shine outpaced San Miguel Beer, 107-93, to clinch their second straight win in the Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner's Cup at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan Tuesday evening.
Deon Thompson led the Elasto Painters with 18 points, four rebounds, three assists and three blocks.
Head coach Yeng Guiao told his boys that speed was the only way to win over the bigger Beermen.
The Elasto Painters scored 16 fastbreak points compared to the Beermen's six points.
“I keep pushing the boys that our only chance against San Miguel is to play fast. If we tried to copy their halfcourt game, we wouldn't stand a chance," Guiao said.
"The only chance for us to win is to play at the pace where they may not be comfortable.”
Rence Nocum added 14 points, four rebounds, five assists, and four steals while Caelan Tiongson had 15 points and three rebounds for the Elasto Painters.
June Mar Fajardo had a double-double effort of 20 points and 10 rebounds as San Miguel dropped to a 1-2 slate.
