Authorities reported that a stolen Mitsubishi Mirage was recovered by Quezon City Police District (QCPD) operatives last weekend.
The vehicle was reported stolen on 15 October by its owner identified as Esmeralda Perez Flores, who filed a complaint against the suspect identified as Sohaima Salo Socor, for violating the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016.
On 7 December, a tip led QCPD’s District Anti-Carnapping Unit to the stolen vehicle, which was parked at the Ramada Hotel in Manila.
The driver — identified as Jody Joe Tubic Ngan — was unable to present any proof of ownership and admitted that the vehicle was pawned to him.
