For its 25th anniversary, quadruple A licensed developer DMCI Homes honored its roots with a thanksgiving Mass on 2 December at the Church of the Holy Sacrifice in UP Diliman, Quezon City.

Often referred to as the UP Chapel, the historic building is considered an iconic attraction, constructed by DMCI Group founder Engr. David M. Consunji.

At the event were company executives, including DMCI Group Chairman Isidro Consunji, DMCI Homes Treasurer Edwina Consunji Laperal, and President Alfredo Austria, unveiling the landscaping enhancement plans of the UP Chapel grounds. The project is a collaborative effort between DMCI Homes and its sister company, Semirara Mining and Power Corporation.

The initiative, spearheaded by DMCI Homes’ prize-winning Landscape team, aims to develop and enhance the UP Chapel’s architectural grandeur, accompanied by a more serene space inviting visitors and the university community to appreciate its graceful beauty.

In 2021, the company and its partners finished a major renovation of the nearly 70-year-old structure, guaranteeing its longevity and maintaining its cultural and historical significance in the UP community. The landscape enhancement builds upon DMCI Homes’ previous accomplishments while looking back at their humble beginnings.

“We chose the UP Chapel as a venue for our 25th anniversary celebration as it holds a special place in the hearts of the people from DMCI Homes and the entire DMCI Group. In a way, the chapel has become a symbol of what we can do as a team, what’s important to us, and what we aspire to become,” Austria said.

Designed from the creative mind of National Artist for Architecture Leandro Locsin, the UP Chapel is recognized as the first circular chapel in the Philippines, and the first to feature a thin-shell concrete dome, an engineering marvel by Engr. Alfredo L. Juinio. The chapel is also the only building in the country that displays pieces created by five National Artists: Leandro Locsin (Architecture), Napoleon Abueva (Sculpture), Arturo Luz (Visual Arts), Vicente Manansala (Painting, and Ang Kiukok (Visual Arts)

25 years of interdependence

In keeping with the year-long celebration, DMCI Homes adopted “Interdependence” as the theme for its silver anniversary, emphasizing the value of collaboration, community, and shared progress.

By organizing a series of engaging events, the group united homeowners, partners, and employees, demonstrating its dedication to building solid relationships and making a constructive contribution to society.

Such events include the “DMCI Homes Carnival,” “Wellness Day,” “SpookFlix Halloween Party,” and the “Kaakbay Fun Run,” which raised funds for various beneficiaries such as Bahay Aruga and Project SpeedMoms Livelihood.

Medical missions in Barangay Rosario, Pasig City were also organized, offering healthcare assistance to nearby residents of DMCI Homes Concrete Services’ Westbank Batching Plant.
