Paris Olympics weightlifter Elreen Ando banners the Philippines’ six-man team in the World Weightlifting Championships from 6 to 15 December in Manama, Bahrain.
Ando, 26, will be competing in the women’s 64-kilogram event on 10 December (11 December in Manila) in the nine-women event.
The pride of Cebu City last competed in that weight division in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China where she clinched a bronze medal after lifting a total of 222kgs.
Meanwhile, Fernando Agad will go first for the Philippines as he competes in the men’s 55-kg category on Thursday (Friday in Manila).
Then, Rosegie Ramos sees action Friday (Saturday in Manila) in the women’s 49-kg category.
She looks to have a good start after narrowly missing out on the Paris Olympics.
Dave Pacaldo will compete in the men’s 67-kg event on 8 December while John Tabique joins the men’s 89-kg category on 11 December.
Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Kristel Macrohon wil cap the Philippines’ campaign on 11 December (12 December in Manila) when she tries her luck in the women’s 71-kg event.
The Philippines will try to do better this time after coming home empty-handed last year in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
