President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. reportedly held a fellowship meeting with members of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, 4 December, 2024.
While details of the meeting remain undisclosed, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) confirmed the gathering.
“The gathering is meant to be a fellowship between the Office of the President and members of the House of Representatives which was already scheduled some time ago, The event is for close-in coverage only," the PCO said in a message to Palace reporters.
Among those present were House Speaker Martin Romualdez and Majority Floor Leader Manuel Jose “Mannix” Dalipe, according to the PCO.
Although the agenda of the meeting was not disclosed, it follows a recent appeal by Marcos for Congress to refrain from filing an impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte.
Marcos and Duterte have reportedly not been on speaking terms since Duterte resigned as Secretary of the Department of Education.
Duterte currently faces two impeachment complaints, with the second filed on Wednesday.
The Office of the Secretary General confirmed that House Deputy Minority Leader France Castro, Gabriela Women's Party-list Representative Arlene Brosas, and Kabataan Party-list Representative Raoul Manuel endorsed the complaint, which was lodged by over 70 individuals from various sectors.
