Three members of the Upsilon Sigma Phi fraternity were recently honored for their outstanding achievements in their respective fields.
Dr. Paco Abes, a consultant at St. Luke’s Medical Center and Manila Doctors Hospital, received the 2024 UNTV Public Service Award for his contributions to public health. An expert in Otolaryngology and Neuro-Otology, Dr. Abes has held research fellowships in the Netherlands and the UK. He is also an Associate Professor at the University of Santo Tomas, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Abes earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine and a Master of Science in Audiovestibular Medicine from University College London.
Felix Lopez, Chief Human Resources Officer of Cebu Pacific Air, was named the 2024 Pillar of HR Awardee by the Philippines HR Group. With over 20 years in human resources, Lopez has held leadership roles at San Miguel Corporation and JG Summit Holdings, where he rose from Manager in 2006 to Vice President in 2016. Since 2019, he has steered Cebu Pacific’s HR department, taking on the role of CHRO in January 2023. During his tenure, Lopez has led the company through unprecedented challenges, including the pandemic, emphasizing transparency, employee advocacy, and organizational resilience. Lopez graduated cum laude with a Political Science degree from UP Diliman.
Atty. Christopher Ryan Tan received the 2024 Young Business Icon Award from the Metro Angeles Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Inc. He serves as Vice President for Administration and Legal Services at Hausland Group and is active in housing advocacy. Tan, a UP Diliman and Ateneo Law School graduate, also completed an executive course at the Wharton School.
