Pioneer Insurance marked its 70th year in the industry by highlighting its culture and values that have guided its growth and service to Filipinos.
As part of its Platinum Year activities, Group Head Lorenzo Chan Jr. inaugurated the company’s refreshed Culture and Values Exhibit.
“We take pride in the culture and values that have shaped our identity and drive us to create meaningful initiatives that uplift Filipinos amidst the unexpected,” Chan said.
Founded in 1954 in Binondo, Manila, Pioneer Insurance began with just five employees working at the Quisumbing building. The leadership of Lorenzo Chantoh, Robert Coyuito Sr., Jose Halili Co, David Coyukiat, and Lorenzo Chan Jr. fostered a culture of collaboration and compassion. Today, Pioneer boasts nearly 1,700 employees across its Pioneer Houses and branches nationwide, all guided by its core values of integrity, excellence, and malasakit or compassion.
Pioneer also continues to reinforce its commitment to the planet through its eco-friendly buildings, including the LEED Platinum-certified Pioneer House Cagayan de Oro, LEED Gold-certified Pioneer House Manila, and LEED Gold and WELL Gold pre-certified Pioneer House BGC, targeting completion in 2026.
Pioneer’s malasakit extends to community initiatives through the Pioneer Foundation Inc. (PFI). Programs such as the TUPAD Program, the PFI Scholarship Program, and the Pioneer Gawad Kalinga Village in Pandi, Bulacan, provide education, housing, and sustainable livelihoods to Filipinos in need.
The company also engages the youth with its award-winning campaigns, such as the Real to Reel Short Film Competition, encouraging Gen Z to address social issues through creative storytelling.
According to the latest Insurance Commission report, Pioneer ranks as the top provider in Microinsurance, Aviation, Marine Hull, and Special Risks. It is also a leader in Casualty and Fire Insurance and has earned global recognition for its innovative microinsurance efforts.
The newly launched exhibit captures Pioneer’s legacy and vision, showcasing its enduring commitment to uplifting lives and advancing sustainability in the Philippines.
