The Office for Transportation Security (OTS) recently concluded a Basic Aviation Security Instructors Course at NAIA Terminals 1 and 3 from 11 to 22 November 2024 which aimed to increase the number of trained aviation security instructors.

It stressed that the training seeks to enhance the overall skill set within the Philippine civil aviation security sector and by equipping instructors with theoretical and practical knowledge, the OTS seeks to ensure consistency in security procedures and best practices.

The training program aligns with the National Civil Aviation Security Training Programs and the International Civil Aviation Organization’s standards.

“This initiative reflects our commitment to educating aviation security practitioners,” said OTS Administrator Undersecretary Crizaldo O. Nieves.

“By equipping instructors with the right skills and knowledge, we are not only meeting international obligations but also ensuring capable and well-trained security personnel,” he added.

The OTS hopes that by increasing the number of certified instructors, more skilled security professionals will be produced, ultimately contributing to the improvement of aviation security standards in the Philippines.
