Golden MV Holdings, Inc., the investment firm of businessman Manuel B. Villar, will rebrand as Villar Land Holdings Corp.

The name change reflects its plan to expand its land bank and support the development of Villar City, an ambitious 3,500-hectare urban project.

In a stock exchange filing on Thursday, Golden MV announced that its Board of Directors approved the name change during a special meeting on Wednesday.

The rebranding involves amending the company’s Articles of Incorporation and will require shareholder approval through written consent.

Shareholders eligible to vote will be determined based on a record date set for December 1. They will have 15 business days to submit their written votes after receiving the Definitive Information Statement.

Approval will require at least two-thirds of the company’s outstanding shares, equivalent to 429.4 million shares.

Details about the voting process will be outlined in the Definitive Information Statement, which will be distributed to shareholders soon.

Earlier, Golden MV announced its plan to acquire three companies owned by the Villar Family for P5.2 billion, granting it access to 396.88 hectares of prime land in Villar City.

Launched in August 2023, Villar City is envisioned as one of the largest urban developments in the region, spanning Metro Manila and parts of Cavite.

It will include various developments, such as two golf courses, a church, an events arena, a university, and an integrated entertainment complex.

The Villar Group opened Villar Avenue, a 10-kilometer, 10-lane road connecting Las Piñas, Bacoor, and the university district of Dasmariñas City in Cavite, to improve connectivity.

Additionally, Prime Asset Ventures Inc., the Villar Group's power and infrastructure arm, has completed a P3.8-billion acquisition of the 4-kilometer Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway from Ayala Corp.

The acquisition aims to enhance mobility and support the long-term growth of Villar City. Golden MV will also collaborate with Vista Land & Lifescapes, Inc. to realize the Villar Group’s vision of sustainable and inclusive urban growth.
