6:30 p.m. — Choco Mucho vs Cignal

Cignal puts its unbeaten record on the line as it eyes a share of the lead against surging Choco Mucho in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference today at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

Game time is set at 6:30 p.m. following the 4 p.m. curtain-raiser between ZUS Coffee and Galeries Tower.

Despite the offseason departure of some key players, the HD Spikers are still playing like a well-oiled machine early in the six-month tournament after racking up back-to-back wins over Farm Fresh and Chery Tiggo.

Cignal sits at the second spot tied with defending champion Creamline behind league-leading PLDT.

The HD Spikers defeated Chery Tiggo, 25-19, 20-25, 25-18, 25-21, last week in a game that saw Cignal make a killing at the service line with 10 aces.

Cignal head coach Shaq delos Santos expects his team to play nothing short of great against last year’s runners-up Flying Titans, who are on a two-game roll after an opening-day setback.

“At least right now we’re seeing improvement in our skills. Hopefully, we’ll be able to maintain if not improve all our skills further in our next game,” he said.

Scorers Ces Molina and Vanie Gandler, prized setter Gel Cayuna and middles Riri Meneses and Rose Doria spearhead the HD Spikers’ charge.

But Choco Mucho is no easy prey.

Alas Pilipinas members Sisi Rondina and Cherry Nunag have been submitting solid numbers since rejoining the Flying Titans, while Dindin Santiago-Manabat has fully adjusted to coach Dante Alinsunurin’s system.
