Several Singaporean businessmen have expressed interest in possibly investing in the Philippine energy field.
This, after Senator Raffy Tulfo attended a dinner meeting with some business executives from Singapore on Sunday “to discuss opportunities and the possibility of investing” in the energy sector.
Tulfo tackled the need to establish a waste-to-energy system in the country during his meeting with Lavan Thiru, executive director of Infrastructure Asia; Farchad Kaviani, managing director for Southeast Asia of SUEZ; Renee Mison, executive director of Go Circular; Kunal Shah, chief growth officer and managing director of Anaergia; and Jens Moller, Engineering manager of Ramboll.
“Some of them are currently investing in the Philippines while others are still planning to invest,” said Tulfo, who chairs the Senate Committee on Energy.
Benefits and best practices
Tulfo said the business executives discussed the benefits of the waste-to-energy system as well as shared best practices in its operation.
“They also voiced issues about the problems and challenges they encountered in establishing businesses in our country,” Tulfo added.
The senator vowed he would extend assistance to foreign investors who wish to invest in the energy sector in the country.
The meeting is also relevant to his push for the swift passage into law of his Waste-To-Energy Bill, he said.
