BAGUIO CITY — Residents and visitors grab thick clothing as they shiver with the dipping of the temperature of Baguio City on Sunday morning.
As of 5 a.m., the Baguio station of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration listed the lowest temperature at 12.8° Celsius.
According to the weather authority, the city will experience the highest temperature later of the day at 22.8° Celsius.
The cold temperature is expected to be felt until the month of February and local officials said that the drop of temperature being experienced by Baguio City, municipalities of Benguet and other areas is due to the blowing of northeast monsoon or Amihan where the winds bring the coldness of Siberia.
According to the local government, the coldness of the temperature is causing frost which covers vegetable plants in some gardens of Benguet especially in the municipality of Atok.
