Newly rehabilitated rural health units in the municipalities of Sagñay, Camarines Sur and Trinidad, Bohol have recently been turned over by BDO Foundation and are expected to expand accessibility to the medical needs of affected communities.
With these rural health care facilities completed, nearly 40 barangays and over 70,000 people will have access to primary and maternal care, including consultation, laboratory and dental services, family planning, immunization, pre- and post-natal services, and tuberculosis treatment.
Rehabilitation efforts
According to the BDO Foundation, the rehabilitation efforts on the RHUs were focused on refurbishing and upgrading the facilities and waiting areas, the play areas for kids, offices, clinics, consultations rooms, and treatment rooms.
The improvements were intended to elevate the standard of healthcare delivery and positively impact the lives of individuals relying on RHUs for medical assistance.
“Our commitment to improving RHUs remains at the core of our mission to help uplift the lives of the communities,” said BDOF president Mario A. Deriquito.
To date, the BDO Foundation has already rehabilitated 160 RHUs since it started improving healthcare facilities and access in different communities around the country in 2012.
