Iloilo logs first rabies case

ILOILO CITY — The local government here — through the Iloilo Provincial Health Office — disclosed that Iloilo province logged its first suspected case of rabies this year, a 17-year-old male from the municipality of Pototan, pending the result of the specimen.
IPHO chief Dr. Maria Socorro Quiñon disclosed that the patient did not avail of anti-rabies shots, as per initial investigation by health authorities and the Iloilo Provincial Veterinarian’s Office.
The patient complained of body pain and episodes of difficulty in drinking water on 1 January, followed by dry cough and other symptoms in the succeeding days, prompting the folks to bring him to the hospital.
