Manila Water Co., or MWC, is set to enhance its water treatment services by the end of this year with the commissioning of the P2.5-billion Hinulugang Taktak Sewage Treatment Plant in Antipolo City.
The company announced on Wednesday that the project has exceeded 60 percent completion rate and is expected to be operational by December.
The facility will enable MWC to offer high-quality sanitation services to its customers in the East Zone of Metro Manila and Rizal.
“Aside from providing 24/7 water supply to our customers, sanitation remains at the forefront of our service improvement efforts,” Corporate Communications Affairs Group Director Jeric Sevilla said.
“We believe that by providing quality sanitation, we are contributing to better community health and environmental sustainability in the province,” he added.
This project aims to maintain and rehabilitate the ecological balance in the area by treating up to 16 million liters per day of wastewater from households before discharging it to the falls.
The Hinulugang Taktak Sewerage System Project is expected to provide sewerage service to 148,000 residents of Antipolo City, including those from Barangay Dela Paz, San Isidro, San Roque and San Jose.
The project is a joint effort of Manila Water, the Provincial Government of Rizal, and the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System to promote environmental improvement through sanitation in the region.
