The Armed Forces of the Philippines on Monday called on the detractors of the administration to spare the military organization from spreading rumors of a supposed destabilization plot against President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s leadership.
In a radio interview, AFP spokesperson Col. Medel Aguilar also denied that destabilization efforts are being brewed among the military ranks.
"Wala pong ganiyan sa AFP (There is no discussion for a destabilization plot in the AFP). We can assure the public that we are solid and united. And we'll focus on our mission," Aguilar said over the DZBB.
"Huwag muna kaming idamay-damay sa mga iyan kasi (Don't drag us into such issues because)… it will not be good for our country," he added.
Aguilar assured that active soldiers will not engage in any attempt to disrupt the stability of peace and order in the country.
"We are confident that the military, the active military personnel are professional and will follow the chain of command," he said.
He underscored that active personnel are compliant and obedient to their oath upon entering the AFP.
Aguilar said the military organization is focused on fulfilling its internal and external security operations mandates.
Meanwhile, former president Rodrigo Duterte denied rumors that disgruntled police and military officials as well as politicians were secretly holding destabilization meetings with him in his hometown, Davao City.
Comfortable with PBBM
In an interview with Davao media last Saturday, Duterte said he has no reason to shepherd destabilization efforts against the current government as he is comfortable with Marcos' political leadership.
"For what purpose? To replace Marcos? I am comfortable with Marcos. Why would I replace him? And who am I to replace him at this time of my life," he noted.
Duterte added. "It is all their insecurity, maybe? It is all in the mind. It is either they are bull*****g around — or is it their insecurity?."
The former president also stressed that he has not yet witnessed major government lapses under Marcos' leadership.
"I haven't seen any major errors, corruptions, abuse. Apparently, Marcos is treading on a straight path," Duterte said.
In his message during the PNP's flag-raising ceremony on Monday in Camp Crame, Quezon City, Police Chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. on Monday also refuted the destabilization reports against the administration.
We are confident that the military, the active military personnel are professional and will follow the chain of command.
"It hurts me that there are people na gusto lang maging sikat yung kanilang vlog ay gagawa ng mga disinformation (They just want their vlog to be popular and spread disinformation). No less than my face, the face of the chief of staff posted and viral saying the AFP and the PNP are withdrawing support or asking for the resignation of the President is unforgivable," he added.
Acorda said the Philippine National Police "does not tolerate such things" and reiterated they will go after those who are spreading false information.
Acorda on Monday filed a case against a vlogger before the Quezon City prosecutors office in connection with the disinformation, pointing to him as allegedly leading destabilization plots against the administration.
Fajardo said that she filed a complaint for violation of Article 154 (Unlawful Means of Publication) of the Revised Penal Code of the Philippines as amended by Republic Act 10951 in relation to Section 6 of Republic Act 10175 otherwise known as "Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012" against ex-army Brig. Gen. Johnny Lacsamana Macanas.
