The Philippine Coast Guard on Wednesday said it will continue to help the Philippine National Police in maintaining peace and order during the upcoming Traslacion 2024.
In a statement, PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan said he has directed the Coast Guard District NCR-Central Luzon to support the PNP in implementing security operations during the Black Nazarene fiesta on 9 January.
According to Gavan, the PCG will deploy K9 units to conduct paneling at the Quirino Grandstand, Jones Bridge and within Quiapo Church on the said date.
Aside from augmenting crowd control operatives, PCG personnel will assist security forces in the vicinity of waters off Pasig River and Manila Bay (behind Quirino Grandstand) through coastal patrols onboard Coast Guard floating assets.
Moreover, Coast Guard medical teams capable of conducting mass evacuation using Pasig River and Manila Bay will also be on standby for necessary assistance during the procession.
"The Philippine Coast Guard is one with the Philippine National Police and religious organizers for the successful, safe, and peaceful conduct of the Black Nazarene Traslacion, a time-honored Roman Catholic tradition," CG Admiral Gavan said.
