Filipinos were urged to include victims of killings and injustice in their prayers on Christmas Day.
Former Senator Leila de Lima, the former justice chief, wished for the safety, strength and justice for all victims of abuse and violence, as well as for those who were orphaned or are away from their families during the holidays.
"Let us include in our prayers the end of conflict and chaos that continue to kill many lives, justice for the victims of abuse and violence, safety and courage of each and everyone particularly the orphaned and those away from their families this Christmas," said the former lawmaker.
In November, De Lima was freed on bail after almost seven years in detention, while facing the third and last of her illegal drug cases.
"The birth of our Great Savior reminds us the spirit of humility, concern, giving, love and family boding," she added.
She said, "In His life which underwent so many challenges and suffering, Jesus Christ showed the firmness of faith, the importance of dominance of the truth and justice — that life, dignity and welfare of each individual, especially to those who are in need should be respected and given importance."
Likewise, De Lima said Filipinos should remember and put into practice the lessons of Jesus Christ even if it's not Christmas.
