Authorities reported that an 83-year-old man was found dead inside his room in Malate, Manila over the weekend.

The dead man — identified as Paterno Bustamante, a resident of Barangay 689, Zone 75 in Malate — was reportedly last seen on 22 December 2023 when he entered the room to rest.

Reports disclosed that the Paco Police Community Precinct received a call from Barangay Kagawad Edielyn Licos informing them that a body of a dead man was discovered inside his room.

Responding police said that they saw the victim lying on the bed and unresponsive, adding that the man had been dead for at least four hours upon the report.

Investigations showed that the sister of the victim — identified as Rizalina Bustamante — called on his brother's housemaid to check on him since he was not responding to calls or messages.

The body was brought to Cruz Funeral homes for autopsy.
