During our threat assessment and risk factors identification, there is a need lay down a tighter security plan if ever we monitor a threat

The Philippine National Police will implement the same security scheme in the Feast of the Black Nazarene on 9 January next year.
PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said yesterday that although there's a security template being followed it will be more stringent in the surveillance side because of what happened in Marawi city recently.
"During our threat assessment and risk factors identification, there is a need lay down a tighter security plan if ever we monitor a threat," she told reporters in a press conference at Camp Crame.
She added that maximum deployment will be laid down for this preparation for the Traslacion and the entire NCR is on full alert and will not remove it until the completion of these major events that are expected even beyond the New Year celebration.
Fajardo said the security preparation for Traslacion has already started where a walk-through was conducted last Saturday together with multi-agency representatives in the engagement areas and expects the security to be laid out preparing for the Traslacion and in the preparation of course of the threat assessments and risk factors identification to make sure that no threat can get through.
"It's not just the one in Quiapo that we will watch over there because other areas also have similar gatherings, all of our security personnel are already on board and our multi-agency partners are working with us in the preparation," Fajardo said.
The procession is held annually, where hundreds of thousands of devotees join the activity starting at the Quirino Grandstand in Rizal Park and ending at the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene or Quiapo Church in Quezon Boulevard.
