A robbery suspect was killed in an armed encounter with operatives of the Quezon City Police District Payatas Bagong Silangan Police Station (PS 13) Thursday night.

QCPD Director, P/Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan identified the slain suspect as Jerome Tangalan Vela, 24, a resident of Brgy. Bagong Silangan, Quezon City.

According to the police report, Annabel Raijab became a victim of a robbery at 4 PM on 14 December 2023 when Vela and a cohort identified as Jommel Caparoso Tabuñar, 27, entered her residence located at No. 233 B. Gen. Francisco, Brgy. Bagong Silangan,

Acting on the information, operatives immediately conducted a follow-up operation which led to the arrest of suspect Tabuñar at 8 PM in his residence and the recovery of the stolen item.

Last night at 11:40 PM, another follow-up operation was conducted along Agham St., Covenant Village, Brgy. Bagong Silangan, Quezon City, after operatives received information from a concerned citizen that suspect Vela was roaming in the vicinity of Covenant Village.

One of the police officers saw the suspect and approached him. However, the latter was said to have drawn his handgun and fired at the responding police officers, who fired back and killed the suspect.

Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) led by PCPT Aldrin Domingo arrived at the crime scene and recovered one Armscor 202 caliber .38 revolver bearing serial number 70098, loaded with four live ammunition, one fired cartridge case and three 9mm fired cartridge cases.
