Senator Christopher "Bong" Go strongly condemned the continuous harassment by China of Philippine vessels in the West Philippine Sea.
The latest incident involved a Philippine ship sailing to Ayungin Shoal on a resupply mission last 10 December, with Armed Forces Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner Jr. aboard.
A Chinese vessel blasted the resupply with a water cannon.
Go, vice chairperson of the Senate Committee on National Defense, urged China to show sincerity and respect with neighboring sovereign nations.
"We condemn this repeated incidents of harassments, occurring monthly or even weekly," Go said. "They use water cannons or laser against our ships and our fishermen."
Go expressed his exasperation with the persistent harassment, emphasizing the need for the Philippines to firmly assert its territorial rights.
In light of these events, Go urged President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to reassess the country's strategy in dealing with China.
