Senator Imee Marcos on Wednesday expressed her support to Vice President Sara Duterte's stance against the Marcos administration's decision to resume peace negotiations with communist rebels.
In a chance interview, the senator was asked whether she shared with Duterte's sentiments against the Marcos administration's peace talks with the National Democratic Front of the Philippines.
"Yes," said the lawmaker, but did not elaborate on her answer.
Earlier this week, Duterte aired her disapproval of Marcos' decision to revive peace talks with the NDFP which she described as "an agreement with the devil."
"Mr. President, the government's statement with the NDFP in Oslo was an agreement with the devil," Duterte said during the 5th Anniversary of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict.
"History has proven that they are not serious and have no sincerity in peace negotiations. They will use this peace negotiation to betray the government and full the people," she added.
The senator also defended Duterte from calls for the latter to resign as secretary of the Department of Education.
"You may remain an ally even though you do not agree with every issue. It is actually better because everyone will discuss everything," Marcos said.
One of the notable figures who called for Duterte's resignation as Education chief was former Senator Leila de Lima.
When asked for a comment about De Lima's plea, Marcos answered: "Dream on."
