NTC vows consistent FOI compliance

The National Telecommunications Commission or NTC is pressing on with its mandates as an industry regulator with full compliance to the mandates of the landmark Freedom of Information Act or FOI.
In a press statement on Tuesday, NTC Deputy Commissioner Deputy Commissioner Alvin Bernard Blanco reiterated that the agency will continue to abide by the principles of the FOI Program through its FOI Officers' daily intervention in the FOI portal and standard platform.
Blanco also committed that the NTC will constantly strive to render transparent, fast, and reliable public service to the Filipino people.
The NTC was honored for the sixth consecutive year at the annual FOI Awards ceremony of the Presidential Communications Office or PCO for being the Top Requested and Performing Agency in the eFOI Portal with 500 to 999 requests and with at least 90 percent closed transactions.
The FOI Awards is an annual event that recognizes FOI partners, program implementers, and stakeholders who have helped to advance the FOI Program.
In response to the call for transparency and full public disclosure of information, the government has established the FOI Program.
The PCO, on the other hand, oversees the implementation and operationalization of the FOI Program. It also serves as the coordinator of all government agencies to ensure the program's proper implementation.
FOI is a mechanism that allows Filipino citizens to request any information about government transactions and operations, provided that it does not jeopardize privacy and national security matters. Its implementation was enabled by the Executive Order or EO No. 2, s. 2016.
