Finally, the long wait is over.
Porsche Center Philippines announced last week that the 2024 718 Cayman GT4 RS is now available in the Philippines.
This uncompromising sports car, which is the ultimate naturally aspirated iteration of the Cayman, is designed to impress with its more lightweight construction, extremely agile chassis and sophisticated aerodynamics.
This is the first Cayman to get the Porsche RennSport or "RS" treatment, which means that it's a "street legal" race car.
Porsche mulled over what type of engine best suits this sports car and chose the naturally aspirated 4.0-liter, flat-six, that has been powering the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup race car and the 911 GT3.
A little tweaking was done on this engine for the 2024 718 Cayman GT4 RS to be able to rev as high as 9,000 rpm, creating a unique, intoxicating noise.
The engine outputs 500 hp and 450 Nm which is matched to a seven-speed "Porsche double-clutch transmission" (PDK) with paddle shifters. This pairing allows the 2024 718 Cayman GT4 RS to sprint from rest to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 315 km/h.
After the improvements done on the engine, Porsche focused on aerodynamics by placing air intakes behind the driver and passenger windows to improve airflow and sound entering the cabin.
The intakes placed in front of the rear wheels help direct air to cool the engine. Also installed were vents on the front wheel arches, underbody paneling, front and rear diffusers, and side blades.
When comparing the ride height of the 718 Cayman GT4 and the 2024 718 Cayman GT4 RS, the latter is 30 millimeters lower than the former.
