

On November 23, 2023, General Santos International Airport, the biggest airport in Mindanao, officially opened its new and upgraded facilities, consisting of boarding bridges and a second floor in the passenger terminal building.
Additional lounge space is now available for departing passengers on the second floor, while the new boarding bridges allow for easier passenger circulation between the terminal and the aircraft. Six new food and souvenir shops have also been opened on the second floor.
Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines Director General Captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo, General Santos City Councilor Jose Orlando Acharon, Vice Governor Elmer De Peralta of Sarangani Province and airline executives were present for the event.
CAAP expressed its gratitude to the Gensan local government unit, the GSIA airport community and other stakeholders for supporting the agency's efforts to ensure safe, convenient and comfortable air travel.
The upgrades at General Santos International Airport are expected to contribute to the its growth by attracting more airlines and passengers and enhancing connectivity.
