Authorities reported that two individuals died while one was critically injured after a speeding tricycle collided head-on with a pick-up truck before hitting another motorcycle Sunday dawn at the westbound lane of Paz Mendoza Guanson Street in front of Mitsubishi Motors in Paco, Manila.

Initial investigation by the Vehicle Traffic Investigation Section-Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit disclosed that the incident happened at 1:50 a.m. Sunday.

The fatalities were identified as Apolonio Toyado III, the tricycle driver and his passenger Joven Braga. The injured person was identified as Ronald Mikhail Betonio, the motorcycle rider.

Police said that the pick-up driver — identified as Sanny Ayon — was driving his vehicle along the road when the tricycle hit his vehicle head on. It was learned that the tricycle was counter flowing.

Due to the collision, Toyado's body was slammed on road while Braga died on the spot. Toyado was brought to the Philippine General Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Betonio, on the other hand, suffered multiple wounds in his body.

The pick-up driver stressed that he was not speeding when the incident happened and that he was not sleepy. He is now facing charges for multiple homicide and damage to property with physical injuries at the Manila Prosecutors Office.
