Gas stations as bus, jeep stops

CEBU CITY — The Cebu City Traffic Management Committee announced on Tuesday that it will no longer allow roadside bus and jeepney stops once an ordinance converting gasoline stations and establishment frontages into pocket passenger loading and unloading areas is implemented.
CCTMC chairperson Councilor Rey Gealon said that the "lay-by" ordinance will help decongest city roads experiencing heavy traffic due to the ongoing construction of the Bus Rapid Transit project.
The traffic body is conducting a pilot study in the Bulacao corridor in the south district where motorists were complaining about early morning traffic.
