The Bureau of Fire Protection reported that a fire has burned down at least 50 residential houses in Arellano Street corner G. Tuazon Street at Barangay 739 in San Andres, Malate early Friday morning.

Reports from the BFP said that the blaze occurred at 5:36 a.m. and went up to a third alarm. It was declared fire out at 7:54 am.

BFP officials said that the fire spread quickly as most houses were old and made from light materials. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported during the fire.

Arson investigators continue to determine the cause of the fire and the estimated worth of damages.

Meanwhile, the local government of Manila through the Department of Social Welfare and Development provided aid to the fire victim which include beddings and tents as they are temporary sheltered at the Malate Covered Court.
