Bureau of Corrections Director-General Gregorio Catapang Jr. offered a portion of Bucor-owned property in Palawan to serve as the Department of National Defense's harbor as they strengthen ways to enhance security measures against invaders who want to cause harm within the Philippine (water) territory.

The BuCor possessed approximately 280,000 hectares of land in Palawan, and Catapang pointed out that they are willing to lend at least 150,000 hectares of maneuver area to DND.

"We have 20-28 thousand hectares sa Palawan. In Palawan, we'll now be the new frontier. Dati it used to be called the last frontier of the country. But now, because of the situation, you know the global rivalry among the superpowers, we are in the middle of this rivalry.

And we are offering the Department of National Defense at least 1500 hectares of maneuver area kasi doon sila nag babalikatan exercise", the BuCor Director-General said in his speech.

Knowing the current situation of the country fighting for its territorial rights in the West Philippine Sea, the BuCor Director-General wanted to make sure that the Philippines would be able to keep its ownership and give a good fight in protecting the WPS.

He also added that the province is a good place to build and put up other institutions (schools, businesses, another prison) that may be of help to Filipinos.

In Palawan, the future site of BuCor will rise with the hopes of attaining its goals and vision to be of relevance, sustainable, and more respected in the coming years.
