Two of the nine detainees who bolted out of the Manila Police District-PS1 in Tondo Wednesday are still being hunted down by authorities after seven has already been rearrested and sent back to detention.
"To the escapees, we urge you to surrender as you have terms to finish. Do not add to your woes. They can surrender direct to me," stated MPD Director P/Col. Arnold Thomas Ibay in an interview.
Ibay said a manhunt operation is now ongoing to re-arrest suspect Jefferson Bunso Tumbaga y Sapa and Master Cedric Zodiacal Velasco.
The seven escapees who were rearrested are back in detention following their capture. They are Gian Carlo Rayala, John Joseph Laguna y Martinez, Arnold Olino y Bruno, Mj Tuazon y Bigonia, Andal Jericho y Antipuesto, Calayas Albert y Crisostomo and Zilmar Adriano y Bacallan.
The nine detainees successfully made their escape after they cut down a thick metal grill at the side portion of the MPD Raxabago station whose lot area of its office were small and the detention cell is perpendicular to the police station that is facing the roadside of the main road.
It was learned that right after the jailbreak P/Lt. Col. Roberto Mupas, chief of the MPD-PS 1, were immediately ordered relief by P/Col. Ibay as well as two of its deputies and two night duty jail officers to pave the way for an investigation.
