Augmented reality (AR) books and e-books are now available to be borrowed from the National Library of the Philippines.

According to a report, the library records a total of 300 to 400 visits despite the fast-changing digital age.

Among the thousands of books, the library is offering e-books, which are available on the library's site and can be accessed using its online platform.

The library also offers augmented reality books in which contents come to life when viewed with an application.

Vibal Publishing Marketing Supervisor for K-12 Immanuelle Purugan said that the augmented reality books are partnered with a mobile application to allow users to see photos via phone.

"It is partnered with a mobile application, which we call the Learn Life AR. All we have to do is align it to the images in the book, and then the images will be augmented on your mobile," Purugan said.

National Library of the Philippines director Cesar Gilbert Adriano said that the library also uses a "retriever," which makes locating books easier.

"The resources we use here are verified. First of all, we know who wrote the books because of the help of our librarians. Unlike on the internet, people post immediately without verifying the information," Adriano said.

To visit the National Library, just register for an ID, which costs P100.
