Replacement import Suleiman Braimoh played solid on both ends of the court and helped Meralco in outlasting Rain or Shine, 107-102, in the Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner's Cup on Wednesday at the Philsports Arena.
Taking over the spot of original reinforcement Feron Hunt two weeks before the start of the new season, Braimoh barely had difficulties adjusting to the Bolts' new system under active coaching consultant Nenad Vucinic.
Braimoh came away with solid stats line of 34 points, including 11 in the final quarter, while also pulling down 14 rebounds as the Bolts won the battle of the boards, 58-48.
"Su (Braimoh) leads by example. When we got him, we knew we had a quality import," said Meralco head coach Luigi Trillo.
"He's been around the world. He has great character. But one of the good things about him is he's very coachable. Not only that, he's a leader also."
