‘Zambo’ employers warned: Remit SSS contributions
He also warned employers that they will face jail time for their failure to remit the SSS contribution they collected from their employees

ZAMBOANGA CITY — The Social Security System on Tuesday warned employers of private establishments here that they will face charges and will be sent to jail if they fail to remit the contributions of their employees to the SSS as mandated by law.
SSS president and chief executive officer Rolando Ledesma Macasaet issued the warning after discovering that some private establishment employers here do not remit the contribution of their employees to SSS.
"I am warning all employers in Zamboanga City if you collect contributions for SSS from your employees and you do not remit them, I will personally run after you and I will file cases against you and send you to jail," Macasaet said.
"I warn you. I am a Zamboangueño, please don't do it to employees from Zamboanga City and those from other regions," he added.
According to Macasaet, he will regularly visit Zamboanga City starting in January and he will check in particular the remittance of employers the SSS collections they collected from their employees.
"I will start coming to Zamboanga starting January next year and I will personally bring lawyers and policemen and senior employees of SSS," said the agency's chief.
He also warned employers that they will face jail time for their failure to remit the SSS contribution they collected from their employees.
"I will not hesitate to file charges against you (employers) for your failure to remit to us the SSS contribution of your employees," the SSS president said.
"Failure to remit the collection to SSS is a criminal liability, the employer can go to jail for 6 years and 1 day to 12 years and he could not apply for a suspended sentence, he has to go to jail," he added.
