4 die in Antipolo road mishap

Four people were killed in a road accident involving a car and a truck along Marcos Highway in Barangay Mayamot, Antipolo City early Monday morning.

The fatalities were identified as Honda Civic driver Juanito Cataylo, 22, and three other companions Kidrock John Magsino, 21, Lawrence Ivan Jose, 21, and Ereneo Balmonte, 22; all residents of Antipolo City.

The incident occured at 3 a.m. along Marcos Highway in front of Phoenix Gas Station in Barangay Mayamot, Antipolo City.

Initial investigation showed that the Honda Civic and the Isuzu Wing van truck driven by Glen Gumban were both going toward Sta. Lucia East Grandmall when the car swerved into the right second lane and bumped into the truck's left side rear portion.

The skid mark, which is about 50 meters in length, indicated that the car was moving fast when the incident happened. The driver of the car and all its three passengers were thrown out and died on the spot.

The driver of the truck is now detained at the Antipolo City Police Station custodial facility.
