
The Police Regional Office in MIMAROPA on Wednesday assured the public of intensified security measures for the observance of Undas in the region this year.
"I want to assure everyone that the entire PRO-MIMAROPA personnel are fully prepared and devoted to carrying out our sworn duty in facilitating a solemn and meaningful commemoration of this upcoming event," said PRO-MIMAROPA regional director Brig. Gen. Joel Doria.
"I would like to reiterate that our responsibility does not end here. We will remain steadfast in our duty to ensure the safety and security of our people, especially in the region," he added.
Doria disclosed that at least 1,000 personnel were deployed to 192 public cemeteries, columbaria and private memorial parks to secure the public as they observe All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day.
"We also established 192 Police Assistance Desks to ensure the strict implementation of the ban on drugs, liquor, weapons, gambling paraphernalia, as well as karaoke and other loud music players in all cemeteries in MIMAROPA," Doria said.
He urged the public paying respects to their departed loved ones to strictly follow all rules and regulations imposed to ensure peace and order in all cemeteries and memorial parks in MIMAROPA.
"I urge all citizens to cooperate and strictly adhere to all security protocols imposed to maintain a solemn and peaceful observance of 'Undas' in all public cemeteries and private memorial parks in the region," Doria said.
"We will not tolerate any violations of these regulations and will take the necessary actions to ensure peace and order during this significant period," he added.
Over at Caraga region, at least 2,688 police personnel have been deployed to secure the observance of Undas, or All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day.
Major Jennifer Omiter, chief of the PRO-13 Information Office, said maximum security will be implemented in cemeteries, memorial parks, churches, transportation hubs and other places of convergence in the region.
"Checkpoints will also be established in the major highways in the region to ensure the safety of motorists and travelers, especially those visiting our region from other areas," Omiter said.
