PNP chief commends BSKE deployment

Philippine National Police chief, Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. on Tuesday, commended the Quezon City Police District for their efforts in securing the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections 2023.
"Satisfied ako for QCPD, they have their command center, in addition sa command center sa main for monitoring," Acorda said.
He added that with the other agencies specifically the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Coast Guards under the supervision of Commission on Elections "kasama ang DepEd, we are assuring the public that we are doing our best that this selection was done successfully, peacefully, orderly and honestly."
QCPD Director P/Brig. Gen. Red Maranan on the other hand said that QCPD has not recorded any election-related violent incidents and concluded the BSKE 2023 as generally peaceful.
He said the collaboration of QCPD with the as among the deputized agencies for the BSKE, along with the Department of the Interior and Local Government, the Quezon City Local Government Unit and other stakeholders was crucial in the conduct of the elections resulting in zero election-related violent incidents.
"We have maximized the deployment of personnel to man the 169 voting centers all over Quezon City in yesterday's election. There were 4,204 combined personnel from the QCPD and other augmentation forces from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Coast Guard and those undergoing mandatory training courses from the NCR Training Service were recalled to render election duties," Maranan explained.
Maranan also reported that six individuals were arrested by the QCPD for violating the election liquor ban imposed on 29 October. Also, since the implementation of the election gun ban, 54 suspects were arrested and 93 firearms were confiscated and surrendered.
Maranan commended his officers and men along with the augmentation forces for their vigilance to ensure fair, peaceful, orderly and successful elections.
