Customers of the Manila Electric Co., or Meralco, are assured that their commemoration of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day will be brownout-free like the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections held on Monday.

The company on Tuesday said it will be on full alert to immediately respond to any power-related concerns.

"We are one with the nation in observing All Saints' Day. While Meralco Business Centers will be closed from 1 to 2 November which are declared as special non-working holidays, we would like to assure our customers that Meralco personnel will continue to be on standby 24/7 to respond to any troubles and concerns related to our facilities," Meralco vice president and head of Corporate Communications Joe R. Zaldarriaga said.

"For a worry-free holiday break, we urge our customers to continue practicing electrical safety and energy efficiency measures," he added.

Meralco reminded customers to practice electrical safety tips such as keeping combustible materials away from outdoor lighting and other heat sources, and ensuring that electrical wires and cords are organized, tucked, or stored away, as many people are expected to visit cemeteries.

Customers should also avoid overloading power outlets by using "octopus connections" or plugging in multiple extension cords into a single outlet. This could overheat the outlet and cause a fire or other accidents.

Additionally, they should not place or run electrical cords under rugs or carpets, as constant foot traffic could damage the insulation of the wires and create a fire hazard.

Meralco also urged its customers to continue practicing energy efficiency to help manage their consumption. Efforts include turning off appliances when not in use.
