Last week, MG Philippines once again showcased its latest electric marvels: the MG4 EV Hatchback and the Marvel R EV SUV.

Both vehicles were prominently displayed at a central booth within the exhibit venue, drawing attention from attendees and industry insiders. The MG4 EV Hatchback, lauded for its sporty flair and agility, has already received multiple awards this year, including the 2023 Car of the Year and 2023 Best Family Car from the UK Car of the Year Awards, to name a few.

The MG4 EV Hatchback is not just aesthetically pleasing but also a robust performer. With a motor that delivers 200 horsepower (150 kW) and 184 lb-ft of torque, the hatchback can sprint from 0-100 km/h in a mere 7.1 seconds.

Its range is equally commendable, providing up to 435 km on a single full charge. When it comes to recharging, the vehicle's battery can be boosted from 10-80 percent in just 26 minutes when connected to a Type-2 DC charger.

Conversely, the Marvel R EV SUV epitomizes sophisticated electric motoring. The vehicle is equipped with a 2-Gear Electric Drive System that churns out 249 horsepower (186 kW) and 302 lb-ft of torque.

This enables the SUV to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in a swift 7.9 seconds. The Marvel R also houses a 70 kWh battery, offering a range of up to 402 km. Charging from 5-80 percent is achievable in 43 minutes via a Type-2 DC charger.

Not to be overshadowed, the Marvel R AWD EV SUV was introduced in a new all-wheel-drive variant, featuring enhanced power and torque figures, along with an extended driving range. The new model is priced at an accessible suggested retail price of P2,888,888.

Unveiled as a high-performance variant in the MG Marvel R lineup, appeals to consumers seeking enhanced power and all-wheel-drive capabilities in an electric vehicle.

With three electric motors yielding 284 hp and 665 Nm of torque, this model accelerates from 0 to 100 kmh in 4.9 seconds, reaching a capped, top speed of 200 kmh. Its notable electric range of 370 km is supported by a lithium-ion battery with a gross capacity of 70 kWh.

Charging is streamlined with a standard 11 kW AC on-board charger and 100 kW DC fast charging capability. The two-speed automatic transmission and permanent all-wheel drive, facilitated by an electronic motor on the front axle, optimize the vehicle's performance across varying driving conditions.

As for pricing, the SRP for the MG4 Standard is set at P1,468,888, while the MG4 Lux is available for P1,738,888. The Marvel R Alpha is priced at P2,588,888.
