Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. is making huge strides in corporate social responsibility and environmental conservation through partnerships with UNICEF and the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
These collaborations emphasize Chery's push for global education and ecological sustainability, as it seeks to integrate social causes into its business model.
UNICEF Representative to China, Amakobe Sande, expressed gratitude for Chery's support, stating: "This will help us provide quality education for some of the most vulnerable and marginalized children in China and around the world. It will also support countries to strengthen their education systems, to better serve children and communities."
The partnership, announced at the Chery International User Summit, involves a two-year, $6 million commitment to support education programs in China, Mexico, South Africa and Turkey.
Beyond this, Chery has been active in various social initiatives, such as the "21st Century Oriental Son Scholarship" in China and youth football schools in Chile, demonstrating a holistic approach to child and adolescent welfare.
In addition to its work with UNICEF, Chery has also been proactive in disaster relief efforts. The company was quick to provide assistance during earthquakes in Ecuador and Turkey, and has donated more than 120 million yuan in funds and materials for emergency rescue and disaster relief.
These actions are part of Chery's broader strategy to be a socially responsible brand, a move that has positively impacted its reputation in overseas markets.
On the environmental front, Chery recently signed a memorandum of cooperation with IUCN, marking the global launch of the "Cherish the Nature" initiative.
The collaboration aims to develop new ecological conservation and restoration models for forests, wetlands, and oceans. According to the agreement, the first phase from 2023 to 2024 will focus on "enhancing awareness and capabilities" in China.
The second phase, spanning from 2025 to 2028, will see the implementation of global projects in regions where Chery operates.
