Limay building 5K housing units

The local government of Limay, Bataan, headed by Mayor Nelson David and Vice Mayor Richie David, will construct 5,000 housing units for the homeless and informal settlers in the industrial town.
Mayor David announced the project in an interview, saying that the first 2,500 units will be built immediately. He said the initial units will help reduce the number of Limay residents who do not have homes.
The Limay municipal government and the provincial government recently signed a memorandum of agreement with state-run Pag-IBIG Fund for the establishment of three housing projects in the town.
Groundbreaking rites were held in Maharlika villages in Barangays Kitang 2 and Luz and sitios Saay and Mamala in San Francisco de Asis. Pag-IBIG Fund CEO Marilene Acosta, Gov. Joet S. Garcia, and the Limay Mayor signed the MoA.
Vice Mayor David said the housing programs in the three barangays have a total area of six hectares and will benefit 2,500 families. An estimated 12,000 informal settlers in the town are homeless.
The vice mayor said the housing units are affordable, costing less than a million pesos each, compared to the commercial market price. The units will be available to beneficiaries for a loan of P300,000 to P500,000.
