President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Tuesday told the Armed Forces of the Philippines, or AFP, that it will have the government's full support as it fulfills its duties.
In his speech during the traditional dinner for the AFP Council of Sergeants Major at Malacañang earlier this week, Marcos said his administration will continue to help the AFP become a "world-class force."
He said the enlisted personnel form the essential core of the nation's military strength, constituting 90 percent of the armed forces.
He acknowledged their specialized skills are crucial in facilitating the AFP's daily functions and institutional activities.
Further, he emphasized that the soldiers are indispensable for ensuring the ongoing success of safeguarding the country's integrity, sovereignty and heritage.
