Prime Energy Resources Development B.V., the Razon-led Malampaya onshore gas plant operator, has committed to maintaining the decade-long safety excellence across the facility as it augments the country's natural gas supply.
The company announced on Monday that it achieved its 22nd year of hitting the so-called "Goal Zero" last 29 September — signifying more than two decades of continuous operations with no harm to people, community, or the environment, and no significant process safety incidents.
"This achievement sets a precedent for our unyielding commitment to our core values of safety, honesty, integrity, respect, value creation and tenacity," Donnabel Cruz, managing director and general manager of Prime Energy, said.
"It underscores not only our dedication to these principles but also our responsibilities as an energy provider, assuring our stakeholders of our utmost commitment to excellence in all we do," she added.
In February, Prime Energy, along with its partners, completed the scheduled maintenance shutdown of Malampaya for both its offshore platform and onshore gas plant on time and with zero recorded incidents.
Continued vigilance
Prime Energy also emphasized its shared commitment with contractor partners to review safety incidents, share learnings, and recognize safe acts.
Additionally, Prime Energy hosts an annual Safety Day, an event welcoming all employees, partners, contractors and vendors, to further reinforce its continued commitment to the high standards of health, safety, security and environment.
The Malampaya project is the only local facility that uses indigenous natural gas to reduce the country's oil imports. It has been powering up to 20 percent of Luzon's total electricity requirements.
It supplies natural gas to power four power generation plants in Batangas with a combined capacity of 2,011 megawatts or MW.
