With the opening of a new cardroom at the Cebu Waterfront hotel recently, the Queen City of the South is poised to become the new poker hub in Visayas and Mindanao, rivalling its counterparts
in Manila.
Dave Erquiaga, the country's foremost poker guru and now considered the face of Cebu poker, said the venue is now open for big tournaments and host to name poker organizations that offer millions in guaranteed prize money in the region.
"We plan to make Cebu the next big poker venue in the Philippines," he said of the organization managed by local and Korean investors.
At present, the Waterfront cardroom has six tables offering cash games daily from 25/50 to 1000/1000/2000 blinds.
It also has a grand ballroom and hotel that could accommodate international players.
