Department of Migrant Workers Officer-in-Charge Hans Leo Cacdac visited in Binmaley, Pangasinan, the wake of Angelyn Aguirre, one of three overseas Filipino workers, or OFWs, who was slain in the terror attack on 7 October.

Cacdac conveyed DMW's condolences and handed over P50,000 to Angelyn's mother, Erlinda.

Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Administrator Arnell Ignacio and Binmaley Mayor Pedro Marera III also visited to support the bereaved family.

Aguirre, a 32-year-old Filipino nurse, was a caregiver for an elderly patient, Nira, in Kibbutz Kfar Gaza. Despite having an opportunity to escape the Hamas terror attacks, she exhibited exceptional compassion and loyalty by choosing to stay by Nira's side.

She and Nira were killed as gunmen shot up a bomb shelter.

Jerusalem Deputy Mayor Fleur Hassan Nahoum said the Filipino nurse showed "unimaginable honor in the face of evil."

Aguirre had made arrangements to return to the Philippines, for good, in December to be with her husband. She had been employed as a caregiver in Israel for seven years.

Aguirre was one of the three Filipinos who were confirmed dead in the armed conflict.

The other fatalities are caregivers Paul Vincent Castelvi, from Pampanga, and 49-year-old Loreta Villarin Alacre, from Negros Occidental.
