Department of Migrant Workers Officer-in-Charge Hans Leo Cacdac confirmed that the remains of overseas Filipino worker Marjorette Garcia were repatriated yesterday morning.
The body of Garcia arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at about 10:30 a.m.
"Marjorette is home. Through the combined efforts of our Embassy in Saudi Arabia, our Migrant Workers Office, and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, we have brought her home to rest," Cacdac said.
"It is with broken hearts that we mourn her loss, that we bring her home in this manner, the victim of one senseless act of violence we have yet to comprehend," he added.
Cacdac also assured the public the DMW will provide assistance to the family of Marjorette, especially her children.
He stated that the charge sheet obtained by the DMW from the prosecutor's office in Saudi Arabia revealed Garcia was stabbed by her Kenyan coworker.
The coworker supposedly harbored resentment toward Garcia because she was always favored by their boss.
Garcia's funeral will take place in her birthplace of San Jacinto, Pangasinan.
