The Edsa People Power Anniversary, celebrated on 25 February every year, will no longer be considered a holiday in 2024. This change was indicated in Proclamation No. 368, which President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed and released on Friday, 11 October.
Proclamation No. 368 outlines the official national holidays, non-working days and special non-working days for the upcoming year.
The special non-working days include the Chinese New Year (10 February), Black Saturday (10 March), All Saints' Day (1 November), All Souls' Day (2 November), Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary (8 December), Christmas Eve (24 December), Last Day of the Year (31 December) and even the death anniversary of former Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aguino Jr. (21 August).
The regular holidays, on the other hand, include the New Year's Day (1 January), Maundy Thursday (28 March), Good Friday (29 March), Araw ng Kagitingan (9 April), Labor Day (1 May), Independence Day (12 June), National Heroes Day (26 August), Bonifacio Day (30 November), Christmas Day (25 December) and Rizal Day (30 December).
The EDSA People Power Revolution in February 1986 led to the ouster of the current President's father, the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr., and the Marcos family's exile to Hawaii.
